Somehow we landed in April – and I’m still in disbelief that the school year is almost to an end. Didn’t we just get started? While I’m looking forward to slower summer days in the morning, I’m not looking forward to the lack of schedule and routine.
It’s always a shock for me to go from such regimented and routine days to the wild west of summer. Is there a way to prepare? Do we just ride the wave of uncertainty or hold on for dear life as best we can? I have a 12-year-old this summer so camp is suddenly “uncool” which is going to make this summer really interesting for my husband that works from home.
Let’s hope for the best! Onto to good stuff…
Things That are Making My Life:
Honestly – this feels like such a throw away and Easter cop-out but Cadbury Eggs. Is there anything better than a Cadbury Egg? I’m honestly mad that you can only get them during Easter season because they are the best things ever created. If Peeps can take over the world with their varying flavors, stuffed animals, cereal – and I swear I saw someone make this on TikTok – WINE – why can’t we have more Cadbury Egg inspired treats?
Is this up to me? Just like solving laundry for overworked families…is it time for me to take up the mantle on more Cadbury Egg realness? Listen, I’ll do it – just give me some time.
Goodbye, Perfect Cadbury Egg. I’ll see you next year.
What I’m Looking Forward to:
I know I just complained about the wild west of summer routines but really…I’m very much looking forward to not being woken up at 6:15 AM. I can’t explain it but my body wants to sleep 8 or 9 hours – and I just can’t do that when my kids have to get out the door on time. Even when I go to bed well before 10 PM. It’s a known fact that if you call or text me after 9 PM, I’m not getting back to you. Ya girl loves her sleep.
So, I’m very much looking forward to waking up and not rushing around like mad trying to find uniforms, student IDs and reminding my boys for the eleventh time to brush their hair and teeth and put on their shoes – things that they have been doing for…I don’t know… AT LEAST 5 YEARS and yet they act like it’s brand new information every single morning.
I’m really, really looking forward to not doing it for two months. 😉
So, friends, the weather is immaculate (at least here in the South for just a few more weeks before it will be blisteringly hot) so what should you do this month instead of laundry? Well, I’ll be hoarding my last Cadbury Egg for a special occasion and spending every waking moment outside in the sunshine until the humidity pressing in so suffocatingly that I’m forced back into the air conditioning.
Till next month!
